African hip hop stands tall because we stay true to ourselves – Sarkodie

It is without doubt that African music is the new wave across the globe with the Western world paying much more attention to music from the motherland.

Apart from Afrobeats which seem to be at the forefront, hip hop is also gaining some grounds and multi award-winning Ghanaian rapper and CEO of SarkCess Music, Sarkodie believes there’s a distinct reason African hip hop is being patronized now more than ever.
Answering questions on the recent recognition of African hip hop on the globe and as to what makes our hip hop stand out at the MTV MAMA 2016 held at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, Sarkodie stated;
“I guess it’s because we are true to ourselves. Hip hop is always been the voice of the voiceless and we represent that because we come from the bottom. When we say bottom, we came from the bottom so the whole energy towards it is 100%. Africa has always got it, it’s just that the world is now recognizing it”
