Legendary music producer Edward Nana Poku Osei popularly known as Hammer of The Last 2 believes hiplife artiste Castro the Destroy who went missing 2 years ago while cruising on a jet-ski on the Volta Lake at Ada is dead.
Hammer in an interview with Hitz FM’s MzGee seemed not happy about how Ghanaians have suddenly forgotten him. To him, Castro should have been given a befitting burial looking at his influence in the music industry when he was alive.
He blamed the family of the musician for not accepting his demise to allow Ghanaians mourn him.
“Its been years and nobody seems to remember him. He’s not in our lives, he’s not in our daily communication but he’s forgotten. This guy played a major role in our industry but the technicalities that bind us is causing this.
I know the family has the power to veto and go ahead to say they accept his demise and they want to give him a befitting memorial. It hurts me” Hammer told MzGee
He added that Ghanaians have to accept Castro’s death. The man who groomed artistes like Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese and many others think Castro should be immortalized.
“We have to immortalize him by doing something about his name. We need an event to bid him farewell. We haven’t said goodbye to him and he is just hanging around. He’s name is just disrespected and forgotten as if he did not do anything in the industry.
We have to accept his demise but I’m not forcing anyone. Common sense says that he lost his life in an accident on the water and he is not hiding anywhere.
The law says he cannot be pronounced dead after seven years but the family can veto that” he concluded.
Ghanaians were greeted with the heartrending news on July 6, 2014 that hip-life musician Castro and a lady friend, Janet Bandu, had both gone missing while cruising on a jet-ski on the Volta Lake at Ada.
A combined search team comprising the Ghana Navy, Marine Police, local fisher- folks and professional lifeguards could not find his body.
Till date, the two [Castro and the female friend he was with at the time of the incident] have not been found and the search team remains clueless as to the exact circumstances which led to their disappearance.
There were speculations that the two had drowned but no eyewitness account has confirmed that theory.
