PHOTOS: African creativity comes alive at Accra Fashion Week 2016

Accra Fashion Week 2016 surprised many when it set ground breaking records this very October. The inaugural edition of the fashion week which emphasized on trade in the fashion industry saw over 20 foreign designers from over 15 countries.

The event took place from the 6th-9th October at the International Trade  Fair Centre. The Ministry of Trade & Industry, The Zambian Embassy and the Netherlands Embassy were just a few of the organizations that were present at the event amongst other celebrities such as Nana Akua Addo and more.
The fashion week faced some challenged which included rain, lack of financial sponsors, an NPP political rally which took place right opposite and a few attempts of sabotage, yet still emerged victorious with various designers promising to be part of the follow up.
The organizers from FashionGHANA have promised that next year will be even more successful, stating that the objective is to turn Ghanaian and African brands into international brands and therefore there is still a lot of work to do on and off the runway. However they are extremely pleased with the feed back and can’t wait to do the same all over.
Pictures of all shows are now available to all at www.AccraFashionWeek.org/Gallery
