Channel the Energy Over Ghana/Naija Jollof Battle Into Promoting Your Music in Nigeria - Bisola Tells GH Musicians
Nigerian actress Bisola Aiyeola who rose to fame after a spell in the Big Brother Naija (BBN) TV reality show, advised that Ghanaian musicians should invade the Nigerian market by going for radio/TV tours to promote their works. The actress who is also a singer, said Ghanaian musics are played in Nigeria contrary to what was believed in Ghana that, Nigerians don’t play Ghanaian music at all.
The perception that has been created by some industry players has led to their demand for Ghanaian DJs and radio/TV presenters to push more Ghanaian music to be as relevant on the African scenes as Nigerian music has. Its well known in Ghana that Nigerian music enjoys a lot of airplay almost rubbing shoulders with the amount of airplay Ghanaian music enjoys. This achievement by Nigerians has propelled them to be giants of Highlife music in Africa or afrobeat. A spot Ghana enjoyed in the 70s.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz Fm, the BBN star stated that Ghanaian Artistes should avail themselves in Nigeria very often to promote their music as they (Nigerians) do here because doors are open for Ghanaians in Nigeria same way they are open to them here in Ghana. She furthermore opined that, “I think the energy we put in the Ghana/Naija jollof battle should be replicated with our music as well. I think with that, Ghanaian/Nigerian music will fly higher with the buzz generated from it, like how we do in football as well.”

The songstress also took the opportunity to announce a collaboration she has done with Samini, which will be released in a couple of days. We believe her advice should be taken seriously so that Ghanaian music flies higher. If Nigerians are able to come down to Ghana and go to other parts of Africa to fiercely promote their music, why can’t Ghanaians do same. It is no news that the Nigerian entertainment industry is healthier than that of Ghana and an artiste who can invade the Nigerian market, invades automatically Africa.
