"Franky is not a Statewoman To Be Buried By Government, Neither Are We Broke To Bury Her" - Family Fires

The family of Franky Kuri, the lady who died in the accident with Ebony Reigns have denied claims they are soliciting for funds from the public and government to enable them to cater for the cost of preserving the body of the deceased ahead of her burial.

They described claims that they are pressing for a state burial for their deceased relative as malicious aimed at tainting the reputation of the family revealing that no member of the family has made such a move as reported by a section of the media.

“Franky is not a stateswoman and so we don’t expect a government to bury her. She is our blood and we will take care of everything and so Ghanaians should disregard the information” the family member pleaded.

Charles Sackey, brother of the deceased said the family is neither broke nor demanding a state burial for the deceased born Franklina Yaa Nkansah.
He threatened legal action against those behind the malicious publications urging the public, in particular, to treat such pieces with the contempt they deserve.

A certain Elikem Kotoko is purported to have claimed the family of the deceased are facing challenges raising an amount of GH₵3,000 being the mortuary cost before the body could be released to them.

He is quoted in a Facebook post to have said: “Frankie’s lifeless body was left at the morgue to its fate, and when a relation went to the morgue to retrieve the corpse, he was made aware that he had to pay GH₵2,000 cedis for the corpse to be released.”

“…And another GH₵1,000 to complete the process and that GH₵1,000 is alleged to be going to the medical doctor for reasons I don’t know,” Elikem who claimed to be a friend to the deceased lamented.

Contrary to his claims, Charles Sackey said the family was of the view that all three bodies will be conveyed to Accra after the unfortunate incident only to learn later that the bodies of Lance Corporal Vondee Francis Atsu and Ebony were the ones transported to Accra.

“Two of our family members got to the morgue only to realize that Franky’s body was still there, so they called one uncle who is also called Uncle Franky and he sent them money to transport the body. And so we have already sent Franky to Accra so we don’t understand why the media must report that false story” he bemoaned.

He disclosed that members of the family were later dispatched to the Brong Ahafo region and succeeded in transferring Franky’s remains to Accra

“Our family is not poor. Reports that we couldn’t transport our Franky to Accra because of money was false. Since Franky died with her friend Ebony and the soldier, we thought that either the soldier or Ebony’s family would transport our own since they all died together”

Franklina will be laid to rest on March 3, 2018.
