Legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Rex Omar has told self-styled Dancehall King, Shatta Wale that it’s about he tagged his kind of music Rudebwoy Highlife so he can showcase it to the rest of world and not Dancehall as he always brands it.
The Abiba hitmaker, who has been a strong advocate for Highlife music, a music genre which started in Ghana and spread to other West Africa countries, said he would be happy if Shatta Wale sell our brand of music to the world, not Dancehall which originated from Jamaica.
According to him, most of Shatta Wale’s hits songs are Highlife songs that would have been promoted worldwide if he tagged them as Rudebwoy Highlife rather than Dancehall.
“With his rudeness and all that, if he has called his highlife maybe rudebwoy highlife or something like that then it would have taken our music somewhere else,” he said on ‘The KSM Show’.
Rex Omar is of the opinion that Shatta Wale could have been a very big ambassador for Ghana’s Highlife music to the outside world because of his big brand.
