Afrobeats artiste, Mr. Eazi, wasn’t surprised he lost the ‘Best African Artiste of the Year‘ Award at the 2017 Ghana Music Awards to ‘Mad Over You’ hit-maker, RunTown. Eazi disclosed to Accra-based Live FM presenter, Vanessa Gyan, that certain behind the scene occurrences confirmed his belief. According to him, “I knew I wouldn’t win. Last year, they tried to book me for Miss Malaika and they didn’t want to pay me and I said: “I wouldn’t leave Naija to perform for Miss Malaika,” “They called for me to perform at this year’s VGMAs and my manager was charging a fee and they did not oblige.” His manager, Bernard Kafui Sokpe, corroborated his story in the same interview with Gyan: “We were told artists who perform at the VGMAs do it for free and if they are paid, it’s a token which I did not accept. Gospel singer Rev Josh Laryea has been suspended by the International Central Gospel Church after being accused of engaging in what the church deems ‘immoral conduct’. Josh Laryea, who’s a preacher at the church’s Doxa Temple, has subsequently been yanked from the pulpit until investigations are completed. A letter written by the Church Council directing Laryea’s suspension said having received allegations against him – “The Presbytery has authorised the Disciplinary Committee to look into the allegations levelled against Rev. After weeks of scrutiny and interviews in finding a perfect replacement for Avram Grant, the GFA has come to a conclusion and the lucky man for the post of head coach of Ghana black Stars is James Akwasi Appiah. According to a press release by the GFA, Akwasi Appiah is  handed a two year deal starting 1st May, 2017. "The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named James Kwesi Appiah as the new coach of Senior National Team, the Black Stars. The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA on Tuesday after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee. Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1st May, 2017. He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars".

Pius Kyere made headlines last year when it was announced that the St James Seminary Senior High School student had been adjudged the best student in West Africa after results for the West African Secondary School Certificate Exams (WASSCE) was released. Kyere was awarded for his brilliance with items including cash, electronics and a scholarship, and he has remained out of the public eye since.
